'Computing is not about Computing anymore.
It is about living!'
Nicholas Negroponte
At Fairway Infant School, our computing curriculum aims to equip our young children with the skills they need to be successful in our rapidly changing world where all aspects of daily life are impacted by technology in many forms.
We aim to ensure our children are digitally literate and equipped with the confidence and skills to use ICT and Computing throughout their daily lives, and into the future, as they grow and change with technological developments. We strive to provide an ambitious, exciting and challenging curriculum as well as using technology as a tool to enhance learning throughout the wider curriculum.
Our Computing curriculum is sequential and progressive to ensure children leave Fairway with the knowledge and skills they need to be successful in the next stage of their education and beyond. We use Purple Mash which is broken down into three key areas:
Computer science
Information technology
Digital literacy
Safeguarding is paramount in all aspects of school life and we firmly believe in the importance of delivering a high-quality Online Safety curriculum alongside the key areas of Computing. As technology develops, so does the need for a secure understanding of how to use it safely and responsibly and how to access help if needed. We want our children to be able to thrive as digital citizens, who are confident and competent using a range of technology positively, responsibly and safely.
