'Where words fail, music speaks!'
Hans Christian Anderson
At Fairway Infant School, we value music as an important part of our children’s early learning experiences. Our curriculum aims to enable the children to express themselves creatively and imaginatively, learn new key skills as they develop their knowledge of the fundamental aspects and rich diversity of music.
During their musical learning journey across our school, children are exposed to a range of opportunities to listen, appraise, compose, perform and evaluate their own work and that of others through high quality progressive planning using the Charanga Scheme.
We aim to immerse the children in an extensive and diverse range of musical styles and provide them with exciting musical experiences to challenge and inspire them. Through the use of simple percussion and tuned instruments, we provide opportunities for them to explore and develop key skills across the different elements of music. We intend for them to become familiar with the interrelated dimensions of music in increasing depth as they move through our school.
Throughout our music curriculum itself, enrichment events and planned opportunities to learn alongside and perform with peers from local schools, we promote a love for music, singing, dance, performance and creativity and develop a sense of independence, resilience and pride in our young children.
