At Fairway we are passionate about developing children’s knowledge and skills in all aspects of Literacy as well as promoting a life-long love of reading. Through quality first teaching, we promote high standards of speaking, listening, performing, reading and writing. Children’s skills are developed so that they are able to express their thoughts, feelings, imaginations and opinions with clarity, confidence and enthusiasm. Our Literacy curriculum is designed to inspire the children and spark their imagination; leading to confident and independent early readers and writers. We provide a language rich, engaging environment, which promotes and celebrates the children’s achievements and provides support for their learning. Through careful marking and immediate, verbal feedback the children are expected to apply taught skills and encouraged to challenge themselves to take risks as they write. Accurate and effective assessment leads to carefully differentiated tasks and appropriate support to ensure that the needs of all learners are met.
