At Fairway Infant school, we endeavour to deliver a broad, balanced and progressive Religious Education to our pupils. We focus on three main religions, which are Christianity, Hinduism and Islam. This has considered the religions that are most widely represented within our school and local community. We believe it is important that all children develop a sense of self-worth and pride in their religious and cultural backgrounds as we support the development of the whole child. As well as recognising that not all children follow a specific religion and enabling time within the curriculum for the children to discuss their secular beliefs.
We believe that Religious Education plays a large role in teaching the children an understanding of similarities and difference, tolerance and respect for others within our community and to show kindness to one another.
Our Religious Education Curriculum supports our children’s curiosity about our differences and similarities through our ‘Big Questions’ approach. The children are encouraged to ask questions and share their thoughts and opinions on the different themes covered.
We aim for the children at Fairway Infant school to feel they are an important part of the local community by having good links with local places of religious worship and feeling a sense of belonging when sharing their own religious beliefs and experiences.
