At Fairway, we are
Respectful, Safe and Ready to Learn
This is our Golden Rule which underpins all aspects of school life. Children are explicitly taught each part of our Golden Rule and explore what it means, and looks like, in their learning, in their interactions with others and in their activities in different areas of our school site.
Adults promote and model our Golden Rule throughout each day and it is the primary focus of our PSHE and RSHE curriculums as well as being an integral part of assemblies and day to day school life.
By focussing on our Core Values of Resilience, Independence, Curiosity and Kindness we are creating a school where our young children gain the skills they need to be successful learners who aim high, challenge themselves, take responsibility and build positive relationships within our school community.
To achieve our vision, we are:
- Implementing our new curriculum which has been carefully designed to be broad, balanced and ambitious and is bespoke to the needs of our children whilst still meeting the requirements of the EYFS and National Curriculum.
- Offering rich and exciting learning experiences both within, and outside of, the classroom in order to inspire our young learners and immerse them in our curriculum.
- Increasing opportunities for the voice of the children and all stakeholders within our school community to be heard as we work together to further develop our school.
- Recognising the changing demographic of our school and celebrating all of the ways we are all similar and different.
- Being actively interested in the children's achievements outside of school and sharing these to celebrate their individual talents.
- Planning opportunities throughout the academic year, for the children to participate in community projects to allow them to develop their understanding of community and the ways they can contribute to their school and Copthorne village itself.
- Building strong relationships with Copthorne CofE Junior School, local primary and infant schools and the local Secondary Schools and working in partnership with them as well as other local groups i.e. the church, Parish Council etc.
- Taking our curriculum beyond the classroom to provide opportunities for all children to experience new challenges and to recognise and develop their talents in many areas including sport, music and the performing arts.
- Preparing our children, both academically and personally, to be successful in the next stage of their education.
