Fairway Infant School

At Fairway we strive to ensure that Physical Activity is an integral part of our whole school curriculum. We know that physical activity can contribute to the physical, social and emotional wellbeing of all the children and staff within our school and wider community.

The potential benefits of regular physical activity include:

  • Improved physical fitness including muscular endurance, strength and flexibility
  • Healthy growth and development
  • A sense of positive wellbeing and enhanced self-esteem
  • Improved social and moral development
  • Improved concentration and attainment levels
  • Overall improved health

We aim to inspire children to be physically active by providing them with a wide range of physical actives throughout the school day, after school and in the wider community.

We aim to deliver this through:

  • Physical Education
  • A whole school active curriculum
  • Extra-curricular opportunities

Sports Premium Funding

The sports premium is an allocation of additional funding given to every primary school in the UK to improve the provision of Physical Education, Sports and Competition.  This funding is provided jointly by the Department of Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport.  The grant has been awarded for the benefit of pupils aged 5-11 years so that all pupils develop healthy lifestyles.

All schools are required to report on the amount of funding received and how this is being used, as well as the impact this is having on pupils.

Please see document below for details of Sports Premium Spending.
