A very warm welcome to Reception! We have two Reception classes – Hedgehogs and Rabbits. We are Mrs Ungless and Mrs Donovan (Hedgehogs) and Mrs Walton (Rabbits). We are supported in Reception by our fantastic Teaching Assistants.
Our two classrooms are spacious and bright with access to a large, dedicated outdoor area overlooking the extensive school grounds. The children enjoy working and playing with natural resources and have access to a range of equipment including a large sand pit, digging area and even a mud kitchen!
Reception is an exciting year and is about building the foundations for children to make the most of their abilities and talents through their learning journey. The children benefit from a play based curriculum and we encourage and support independent learning whilst providing a structured and stimulating environment for them to grow and develop in.
Individual threads of learning are encouraged and we support and follow each child’s interests. We work with and alongside parents and children to develop skills to enable them to become happy and confident learners. The best learning happens through fun play-based activities.
Look forward to working with you all.

Our current topic is: 'Wheels, Whistles and Wings'
In Spring Term we are learning about different forms of transport. We’ve called our topic ‘Wheels, Whistles and Wings’! We will spend time learning about different modes of transport such as buses and we will compare these to old buses.
We started our topic off with a fantastic ‘Wheels’ day. Every child brought in a bike or scooter and we had fun exploring how the wheels helped to make it move. One child said ‘Wheels day is the best day ever!’
Our weekly parent info letter will give you more details about our activities each week.
Thank you if you attended our recent phonics meeting, if you missed it please see the presentation that was given below.
