'Geography is the subject that holds the key to our future'.

At Fairway Infant School, all aspects of our curriculum are intended to be inspiring, immersive, inclusive and interconnected. Our geography curriculum aims to inspire in pupils a curiosity and fascination about the world and its people that will remain with them for the rest of their lives. Teaching equips pupils with knowledge about diverse places, people, resources and natural and human environments, together with a deep understanding of the Earth’s key physical and human processes.
Across each geographical topic that we study in school, our lessons are designed to incorporate:
At Fairway, we have developed a progressive curriculum that allows our children to learn more and remember more whilst developing key map and fieldwork skills. We ensure that our sequential learning opportunities drive pupil understanding of the world around them beginning with their immediate school environment and then working their way from the school’s village location to the UK and then the wider world. Through carefully planned engaging and creative experiences, the children learn to recognise and name a variety of human and physical features and compare those found in their locality to those in villages and places around the world.
